ICD-11 Coding Tool is a software to help the users of coding with ICD-11
There are some differences in the way searching is performed between the Coding Tool and the ICD-11 Browser
The browser search may give you results that are groupings (or blocks) in addition to entities with codes. However, the coding tool only gives results that have codes by design.
Browser has the advanced search feature which allows you select what to search (i.e. you may search exclusions, definitions, etc.) whereas the coding tool searches only the index including the titles.
Coding tool has word completion and word suggestion.
Coding tool has chapter filtering feature which by default filters out the “Extension Codes” and the “Traditional Medicine”.
The ICD maintenance process allows the continuous adaptation of the ICD following the evolution in the understanding of diseases,
treatments, and prevention. A proposal and review mechanism on an online platform makes the process transparent.
This platform allows users see the suggested updates, make change proposals or correction suggestions.
In addition we provide a mechanism to contibute to the translations of ICD-11.
The browser contained in the maintenance platform (with the orange background) is mainly for the contributors of the classification development and it has the following differences
It shows the current work in progress. I.e. it may contain content that is not released and may change before releasing. Therefore it should not be used for coding cases
It shows the ICD-11 foundation as well as the several linearizations including the ICD-11 for mortality morbidty statistics (MMS)
It has features for facilitating contribution such as commenting and the proposal mechanism
It contains a translation tool to aid the translations
